A Winter's Blessing - Lisa Minor

This is a great kit. It features lots of wonderful cool colors for the cooler times of the year. It has some very pretty elements as well. You can pick up Lisa Minor's A Winter's Blessing HERE at Scrap Debris. And remember this great kit is only $1.00.

I created a two page layout with A Winter's Blessing. I used one of Yin Design's great two page templates. The fonts I used were Matura MT Script and Lucida Bright.

The pictures were taken when Caleb and his dad got to go to the model railroad show. He really enjoyed seeing all the trains. These photos are from 2006.

Psi Psi - School

This is a great kit to use for those starting school layouts but the colors and elements make it great for recording any special kid stuff. You can pick up this great kit at DigiScrap Station HERE.

I used the kit to create layouts of some of the block buildings my kids created in 2006.

The first layout Caleb Tower features the tower Caleb built including a ground floor parking garage. The font is Lucida Bright and Jokerman. I also used an Andrea Gold Template.

The second layout Mathreville features a whole block city that all three of the youngest contributed too. The font is Informal Roman and no template was used.

The second layout is also from 2006 and features by gang doing school. It uses School Hand Bold by Creative Chaos.

The colors in this kit are so warm and rich. It has some great elements that are both fun and funky. It also has some neat floral and plant elements as well.

CT for Stacey Crossley - Spring Fling

Stacey has a brand new kit in the store and its a lot of fun. It has some great elements including clips, ribbons, and buttons. I love the journal mat that comes with this kit. I completed 1 double page layout and 1 single page layout with this great kit.

Tons of Fun at My Scrap Shop

My Scrap Shop is hosting a bunch of challenges right now that will run until the 31st of the month. The first four challenges can earn you one of the 4 parts of Timeless Romance by Pillowgirl. It is featured in one of my layouts below. And for those who get really busy they are planning on adding even more giveaways this month. You can find the challenges on My Scrap Shop's Forum section HERE.

This evening I completed five of the challenges. This means I am now on tracking for my yearly and weekly layout goals.

Layout 1 - Basket Baby - This was for the Impromptu Challenge, Inspirational Ad. I used Sir Scrapalot's Funky Monkey. I used the ad given as a sort of a sketch to complete the layout. The font is Arial Black.

Layout 2 - Love Letter - This was for the Impromptu Challenge - Hugs since January 21st is International Hug Day. This is one of those layouts that took on a life of its own. I started to journal something simple and that is not what came out. But as I dried my tears I decided to go for broke and leave it all there. I used Pillowgirl's Timless Romance set which is a mega kit made up of four mini kits. You can 1 mini kit for every challenge you complete. I used an Andrea Gold Template and Sherwood font.

Layout 3 - Summer Foreshadow - This one was for the Impromptu Challenge - Font. It was the pictures we took after a particularly heavy summer storm. It was bad that we decided to take pictures. Little did we know that by the time the summer was over we would be hit with several more severe summer storms plus 3 major hurricanes. The kit is EAL's Fall's Glory. The font is Howdown. And I used an Andrea Gold Template.

Layout 4 - Caleb's Snake - This one is actually from this year. This one was submitted in the Template Challenge. I moved the circles over a bit because I know that when printed in a photobook the pictures would be lost in the crack. I took the journal area and replaced it with a reshaped journal mat from kit. The kit is Pillowgirl Hootie. The font is Impact.

Layout 5 - Daddy's Home - This is another Impromptu Challenge. This one is Poetry. I used a poem written by my mother when I was little. I used photos from that era to highlight the poem. The kit is Ladybug's Recipe of Love. The font is Lucida Handwriting.

Go Digital - Progressive Challenge

Well this was really a different experience. We had to do this layout in 4 steps but only one step was at a time so when I started I had no idea where I was going to end up.
Step 1 use 6 papers
1 paper must have circles in it
3 papers must be patterned, something other than circles
2 plain papers
Step 2
3 photos
Here is your 3rd Step
6 Elements
Ric Rac
Ribbon
Glitter
Cardboard
2 elements of your choice
Again you may duplicate any of these elements, no changing the size or color just duplicate them if you want.
4th Step
Title and Journaling
Title and Write something that relates to your photos
No changing the first steps that you have already posted.

So here was the finally product. I used the paper and elements from GDS-QOTC March Challenge gift. The only things not straight from the kit is the glitter doodle that I'm not sure where I got that and the ric rac that was a blank template that I papered with paper from the kit. Everything else is from the kit. Oh the journal shape was also a template piece overlaid with the paper from the kit for the first step.

The pictures are from my son's 13th birthday.

The font for title and journaling is Boulder. The title is a play on the "I'm A Big Kid Now" commercial.

In same ways this challenge was really hard because you didn't know where you were headed when you started. Also you had a limited time to get each step submitted as the whole thing had to be done in two weeks. But I learned a lot and really had to stretch and grow. You'll need to check out he GDS Forum for the next progressive challenge.
